Xerox Duplicator Questions

  1. What is the benefit of the Xerox duplicator?
The Xerox Duplicators offer the exclusive "Drag and Drop" application which sets it apart from other standalone duplicators.
  2. What is the "Drag and Drop" feature?
This feature allows the user to "Drag" ISO image file(s) and "Drop" them directly onto the duplicator's internal hard drive from a PC. This feature eliminates the need to first create 1 or more master discs by burning a physical CD or DVD through the PC's writer drive and then loading the newly created disc(s) to the hard drive through the duplicator's reader drive.
  3. I have a Mac computer, can I use the Xerox duplicator's "Drag & Drop" function?
No. Unfortunately, Mac computers are not supported at this time.
  4. I do not have a computer, can I still use the Xerox Duplicator?
Yes. The Xerox Duplicators are fully standalone with a simple one touch process to duplicate optical discs. No computer or computer knowledge is required AT ALL. However, without a PC, the user will not be able to utilize the "Drag and Drop" feature.
  5. Can I use the Xerox Duplicator as an external hard drive?
Yes. Xerox Duplicators can be used as an external hard drive using the "Drag & Drop" function to store many types of files onto the unit's built-in Hard Drive.
  6. Can I copy retail movies or rental movies with the Xerox Duplicator?
If the disc you wish to duplicate is copy protected, they cannot be duplicated.
  7. Will the Xerox Duplicator copy Blu-ray discs?
The answer depends on the drives installed in the Xerox Duplicator purchased. If the drives in the unit are combo CD/DVD only, then the answer is no. If the unit has Blu-ray drives installed, then the answer is yes. You can find out which drives are installed in the unit through the Utility function on the duplicator's controller.

LightScribe Duplicator Questions

1. What is LightScribe?
LightScribe is an innovative technology that uses a special disc drive, special media, and label-making software to burn labels directly onto CDs and DVDs. Because the labels are laser-etched-not printed-there's no ink, no smudging, and no peeling.

Your labels can be whatever you want them to be. Create one-of-a-kind designs with your own photos, text, and artwork or choose from the many free backgrounds provided using the special edition Template Labeler software included with every LightScribe capable duplicator. You may also visit LightScribe's Template Label Gallery, or the Label Gallery for free downloadable designs.

2. What is the benefit of LightScribe capable standalone Copy Master LS duplicator?
The Copy Master LS allows the user to copy data, audio or video files onto the data side of recordable CD's or DVD's, plus offers the ability to print directly onto the label side of LightScribe capable CD's and DVD's. This is all done in a single standalone manual tower duplicator where all the drives will print or duplicate simultaneously for a faster superior end product. All of this is done without the need to connect to a PC, refill ink cartridges/thermal ribbon, or a master degree in mechanical engineering. The Copy Master LS is so easy to use that anyone can use one while offering exceptional print and duplication quality.

3. How does the LightScribe duplicator work?

1. Create the raw label file (.hgo) using the design software that comes with the duplicator.
2. Burn the raw label file(s) (.hgo) you created on your computer onto a CD.
3. Place that CD into the reader drive of the Copy Master LS duplicator.
4. Load LightScribe capable discs with the label side down in the writer drive(s) below the reader.
5. Using the menu on the duplicator's LCD, choose and execute the "Print" function. The system will print the specified image directly onto the each disc in all of the writer drives at the same time.
6. Remember, the same drive that burns your label burns your data, too.

4. What are the advantages of LightScribe labeling compared to Inkjet printing?

1. Does not require extra equipment like an expensive inkjet printer.
2. No need to purchase expensive ink cartridges.
3. The label does not smear, bleed, or run and is naturally water resistant.
4. The disc can be reprinted over and over again to fill up empty space or add additional content with exact accuracy.
5. Eco-friendly, no ink means no empty ink cartridges in the landfills and no paper labels so it does not contribute to the thinning of the forests.

5. What are the advantages of LightScribe labeling compared to mono-color thermal printer?

1. Does not require extra equipment like an expensive thermal printer.
2. No need to purchase expensive ribbons.
3. Can print full images as well as plain text and simple graphics.
4. No need to stop and replace ribbons.
5. Cost per print is far less expensive.

6. What are the advantages of LightScribe labeling compared to full color thermal printer?

1. Does not require extra equipment like an expensive thermal printer.
2. No need to purchase expensive ribbons.
3. No need to stop and replace ribbons.
4. Cost per print is far less expensive.

7. What is the difference between the Copy Master LS (LightScribe capable) DVD duplicator and the standard Copy Master series DVD duplicator?

The two Copy Master duplicators are very similar in design and features but the LightScribe duplicator, (hint the name), offers the added LightScribe labeling feature.

8. Can I make copies of an existing labeled LightScribe disc by just inserting the disc into the reader with the labeled side down?

No. The duplicator cannot read/scan the picture/label on the LightScribe disc. Therefore, it can ONLY read the raw label file (.hgo) from a disc created through the provided LightScribe software.
